Kathryn Clarke
Biography
Kathryn Clarke is a textile and fashion designer based in Stroud. After graduating with a BA hons in fashion and textile design from Cheltenham College of art she went on to work with Liz Lippiatt screen printing luxurious fabrics and producing exclusive accessories. In 2000 she exhibited her first collection of sheepskin bags at ‘Top Drawer’ gift fair, London. Kathryn has continued to create garments and accessories using sheepskin, leather and locally woven woollen cloth, her designs draw on the natural qualities of these materials, particularly the raw and ragged edges of skins and varying textures of wool. Over the past 12 years her work has sold in shops and galleries across the country, and has been exhibited at many trade fairs.
As part of the Studio Seven textile collective she has created costumes and textile pieces for site specific performance and installation in inspiring venues.
She has worked with Red Dog Theatre Co designing and creating costumes and set dressings for childrens theatre productions.
She has run one-day textile skills workshops in Stroud, and taught textiles to women in prison near Bristol.
