SVA provides studios for 26 artists at John Street, and at the Goods Shed. We are really keen to support dedicated artists of every background and are excited to invite new people on board.

All SVA artists participate in the long-standing Open Studios as part of the Site Festival every year, and the benefits of having a studio at SVA reach beyond just making work; there are events, talks, workshops and discussions to be part of, plus collaborations and connections to be made.

SVA serves locally based artists through low cost studio space, an associate membership scheme, a support network and opportunities to promote their work through the public programme. There is a selection process for studio spaces and and a desire to create a stimulating and creative working environment for all users of the building.

Depending on the studio (whether it is shared or not) Monthly Studio rental varies between £91- £185.

There are new opportunities available in the painting studio, for established or graduate artists.

The Design Studio space faces out onto John Street, above the gallery. It is ideal for 3-4 artists to share, to make a really affordable work space for each artist.

SVA are offering studios to graduate artists under 30 at a subsidised cost for a period of 12 months. The studio space will be available for a further two years (or longer subject to a studio review) at the standard rental charge.
